Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python)

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will focus on designing, building, and maintaining backend services and systems that run in production at scale. You will work on complex technical challenges and take ownership of backend components from design to deployment.
This role is suited for a strong individual contributor with deep backend expertise and a high bar for code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust backend services
- Build scalable and reliable systems with a focus on concurrency, correctness, and performance
- Design and work with event-driven and asynchronous systems
- Model and manage data in relational databases for high-load environments
- Take end-to-end ownership of backend components and services, including observability
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern backend development
- Proven experience building and maintaining production backend systems
- Strong familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)
- Solid understanding of clean code, maintainable designs, and backend best practices
- Ability to work independently and drive technical solutions
Nice to Have (Advantages)
- Experience with event-driven systems (e.g., messaging, asynchronous processing)
- Experience with high-availability or large-scale systems
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience working with distributed systems
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience mentoring or reviewing other engineers’ code
