Everyone around liked Christmas a lot…
But Network Demand, which grew month over month, just wouldn’t stop!
Network Demand exploded at Christmas! In fact, for the whole Christmas season!
Now, you probably know why, but really, you don’t need a reason.
Whatever the fact, NetFlix or video views,
On Christmas Eve, operators feared losing more revenues.
But, you know, that old Network Demand was so smart and so slick,
It scaled to the sky, and shot up so quick!
The operators stared out, each wearing a frustrated frown,
At the warm-lit homes across every town.
And everyone was online beneath,
Ordering from Amazon, watching shows or playing 4K games by the skin of their teeth.
“They’re streaming online!” all the operators snickered in fear,
“And soon it will be Christmas! It’s practically here!”
Then Network Demand roared, stirring to life with a vibrant humming,
“We MUST find a way to solve this surge of Christmas traffic that’s coming!”
For soon, they knew, all the girls and boys,
Would wake up bright and early. They’d rush to play with their digital toys!
And then! Oh, the noise! Oh, the heavy, intensive traffic noise!
The people, young and old, would open all their devices to a data traffic capacity feast.
Which the operators feared would mean more capex outlay – not in the least!
So, while their windows were dark, and quiet snow filled the air.
All the people lay dreaming sweet dreams without care.
The operators heads were so heavy with worry, that they hung so low.
“These streaming services,” they declared, “their bandwidth usage makes everything slow!”
And they knew they needed to do something they liked least of all!
While everyone was hooked into the internet, the tall and the small,
Operators stood close together, and considered just what their networks were missing.
Then standing hand-in-hand, the Operators looked up and started singing!
They’d sing! And they’d sing! And they’d SING!
THE OPERATORS GOT A WONDERFUL, AWFUL IDEA!
“Now we know just what to do!” They laughed and made a quick note.
And they reached out for a simple price quote.
And they chuckled, and clucked, “What an innovative and efficient trick!”
“With a new software-based, cloud-native infrastructure, that’ll work like magic!”
And what happened then? Well…it started all over they say,
But the network’s heart, seemed to grow three sizes that day!
And then the network didn’t feel quite so tight,
It whizzed and buzzed, flying with loads of data, up through the bright morning light,
And everyone went back to their digital toys! And enjoyed a bandwidth capacity feast!
And the Network Demand? The operators successfully transformed that network infrastructure beast!
“Merry Christmas,” they thought, “it starts at the network core.”
“Merry Christmas…perhaps…there will be even more!”
